'Mike' Walker, of Boomer, NC, dies Monday
Joseph Michael “Mike” Walker, 60, of Boomer passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, at SECU Hospice Home in Yadkinville.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, 2019, at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel, with Greg Pardue speaking. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m., prior to the service at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery in State Road.
Mr. Walker was born Sept. 10, 1958, in Surry County to Robert Lee and Ida Ruth Martin Walker. During his radio career, he worked at WIFM, WKBC, WFMX, WNNC, WWWC and WKSK radio stations. He had a passion for radio and started working at age 15. He also loved photography and reading. He was the producer of www.savingthe70s.com, with listeners in over 30 countries.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lisa Walker Myer.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Robin Thompson Walker of the home; a brother-in-law, Greg Pardue; two sisters-in-law, Ramona Pardue and Patricia Thompson; his nieces, Alicia and Emma; two nephews, Calvin and Scott; and his fur babies, Kira and Lincoln.
